Gabriela Zukowicz [Profile]

Gabriela was born in Poland. After graduating from Feliks Nowowiejski State Music High School in Szczecin, she moved to London. She attended Trinity Laban Conservatoire, where she completed both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees. Under the mentorship of John Crawford, it became a period of great discovery for Gabriela. The use of the Alexander Technique allied to scrupulous research completely transformed her approach to what we do when we practice and how we use our body in a way that is not counterproductive and harmful. This in turn laid the foundations for her sensitively calibrated approach to violin playing, practicing and teaching. Consequently, she was delighted to discover the Colourstrings method, which aligns with her approach. She then went on to train with Gèza Szilvay. She now teaches at Colourstrings Music School in Kingston and The North London Conservatoire. Away from the world of teaching, Gabriela enjoys playing with her husband, concert pianist Kyle Hutchings. Whilst not teaching or performing, Gabriela dedicates all her attention to her daughter.
